Air Locker & Copper Tube Crushed

Written by: Scott Frary

Check below and note the crushed copper on the seal housing. This is caused by improperly tightening the air line nut on the older 170111 bulkhead fitting kit. This can cause slow release of the Air Locker and sometimes even completely prevent it from unlocking.

For the following information please reference to the picture below

Part # 1 is fitted into the axle housing. The copper tube comes up inside and the o-ring is then installed. Part #2 is then installed and it is just lightly tightened into #1.

The blue air line will then be pushed thru #3 and pushed onto #2.

This is where the issue arises. When tightening #3, a wrench should be holding #2.

Without a wrench on #2, it will over tighten onto the copper tube and crush it.

This issue is not possible with the later 170114 bulkhead kit.
